Space Clearing Newsletter - August 2007

PDF Print E-mail

June and July have passed so quickly. I've been teaching courses in Sydney and Bali, getting married (see the posting in KK's Blog on my website!) and have given the entire spaceclearing.com website an upgrade.

The reason there hasn't been a newsletter for a while is because I haven't managed to get that part of the new system working properly yet. This newsletter will look fairly OK (although somewhat boring) in HTML format, but pretty scrambled-looking (sorry about this) for those of you who receive emails in Plain Text. I hope to offer a much better quality newsletter by the time I send out the next one. In the meantime, here's all the latest news...

  • The new spaceclearing.com website
  • KK's Blog
  • Space Clearing Practitioner Training - Sep 2007
  • Free Space Clearings in upstate New York
  • Clutter Clearing Teddy Bears - the great dilemma!

THE NEW SPACECLEARING.COM WEBSITE

In today's fast-moving world, it only takes only two or three years for a website to look outdated. One of my priorities is maintaining the Space Clearing website so that it reflects the continuing developments in the field of Space Clearing, and the upgrade made last month is the most major one there has ever been. All our data has been moved to a new open source content management system and the online stores have been streamlined and made so secure that even if the site is hacked, no customer's credit card information will ever be at risk. Many people have emailed to say how much they love the look and feel of the new site. Hope you do too! After you've read this newsletter, go take a look at www.spaceclearing.com.

KK'S BLOG

One of the new features of the site is a section called KK's blog. Recent postings include:
~ Just Got Married!
~ French Translation of 'Clear Your Clutter'
~ Sydney Opera House
~ Clutter Clearing Teddy Bears (see later in this newsletter)

SPACE CLEARING PRACTITIONER TRAINING

There are just 2 places remaining for this training, which will take place in upstate New York, USA September 19-29, 2007. Full info at www.spaceclearing.com (Trainings page)

FREE SPACE CLEARINGS IN UPSTATE NEW YORK

As part of the upcoming international Space Clearing Practitioner Training, I'm looking for three large homes with at least 3 or 4 bedrooms to space clear. The group (approximately 12 people) will be based in Lynnskill, near Bovina Center, Delaware, NY 13740, and the homes need to be ideally no more than one hour away from this location by car.

The following 3 dates are currently available: September 23, 25 & 27 2007. There is no cost involved. All flowers and Space Clearing materials are supplied. The ceremony itself is conducted by trainees and supervised by me personally to guarantee its effectiveness.

If you (or someone you know) have a large home in this area and would like to have a free Space Clearing, please email spaceclearing@spaceclearing.com, and include the following information:

* The location of your home and how far it is from Bovina Center
* The size (in square feet)
* How many floors
* How many people live there, including yourself
* How long you have lived there (minimum 6 months)
* What you are hoping a Space Clearing will help with

CLUTTER CLEARING TEDDY BEARS - THE GREAT DILEMMA!

(Copy of a recent posting from KK'S Blog)

Teddy bearsSomeone emailed me recently to say... "I have had my teddy bear since I was very small, and I am now 26. She gave me support when I was feeling sad or angry. I feel as if she is alive in some sense. I have now moved her from the top of my dresser to inside my closet. I can't seem to get rid of her, because she feels alive to me. I don't know what to do. She is more than a stuffed animal but I feel like I have moved on from needing the type of supports she gave me when I was younger. She is too old and worn out to donate. How can I let her go?"

I've received many emails like this over the years. Of course teddy bears are not alive, but they do become imprinted with all the love and affection they are given and are certainly more personalized than most other belongings.

Throwing a teddy bear in the trash when you are done with it feels heartless and just plain wrong. If it's still in good condition, donating it to a children's charity or a child you know is an excellent solution. But what to do about a one-eyed bear that's had all the fur hugged off it and really wouldn't appeal to anyone but you? Do you bury it, burn it (ouch), keep it until you die because you can't decide what to do (and then someone else will throw it away), or what?

One of the sweetest ideas I've heard is to take your soon-to-become-ex-teddy bear to a forest, sit it in the branches of a tree, and leave it there for the elements to reclaim it. Of course this would probably infringe litter laws in most public forests, and it would also be a bit spooky if this became common practice and there were ghostly teddy bears staring at you from every tree in every forest you visit.

So what is the solution? Email your suggestions to clutter@spaceclearing.com and I'll post the best I receive to my blog.
