The things we keep around us reflect exactly who we are. One of the quickest ways to get a fresh perspective on yourself is to take a good long look at everything in your home as if you didn't know the person who lives there.
What would you conclude about the person? It then becomes pretty obvious what you want to keep and what needs to go.

It took me a few years, but my home now reflects who I am, and I am proud to have guests stay with me. They all comment at the nice energy that flows thru the house.
Having cleared clutter for the last 4 years, particularly the last two because of major renovations, I have discovered the house does reflect me! The unfortunate part is that the only area I cannot get cleared properly, is the office/money area of the house! That, too, reflects me because the money situation is a mess too! We will be moving the end of January 2008, quite a distance, and this time The office IS going to be right!! For Better money energy! Lots more will go, But Wish Us Luck!!! We'll need it!
Simple, direct and right on. My current living space does not reflect who I am but it does reflect the cluttered approach I take to life. Letting go of those items, things that no longer serve or represent myself is a step towards focus.
I am in the beginning stages of re-space clearing our house. We have been through some trying years and the buildup of clutter is horrible. I didn't seem to notice so much until recently when I decided that our family can no longer continue in this way. I began to look at each room with new eyes and am amazed (and disgusted) with what I see. I began tossing and giving away things about two weeks ago. I have a long, long way to go, but I already am feeling lighter.
The hard part was parting with an expensive set of drapes. They never looked right and I hated looking at them hung up. I stuck them in a closet for the past eight years, where they took up gobs of space. I was torn about tossing them, but I am just back from delivering them to Goodwill and feel like a refreshed new person. You are right about clutter clearing. Much of what I am tossing or giving away is in the sky blue/periwinkle family. Those were the colors that identified me. I am now replacing everything, including wardrobe, with earth tones. It was a subconscious move. I think it represents my move from idealism to realism or something. But I know I am a different person than the one I was five years ago. Write a comment
