Since we moved to England and my husband, Richard, took over running the Space Clearing products store, I’ve been amazed at the orders arriving from so many parts of the world. My Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui book is very out of date and virtually out of print (I’m revising and updating it now), so it can’t be that that’s inspiring people to space clear the energy of their homes. Can it be that they read the book years ago and have taken this long to get round to doing it? I must confess, I’m mystified.
When the book was published in 1996, so many readers wrote to tell me that they got as far as Chapter 5 – the one about preparing for space clearing by clearing clutter – and there the bookmark stayed. That’s why I wrote my second book, Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui, to help them get past this and get on with doing the ceremony. But has it really taken some people 14 years to feel ready to start?
I suppose another possibility is that there’s some newly published book I’ve never heard of that is teaching people how to do Space Clearing using the same methods I’ve developed, but surely I would have heard about it by now?
So for any of you out there who are still clutter clearing to get your home ready to space clear, here are a few words of advice that it would perhaps have been helpful of me to explain years ago.
While there’s no denying you’ll get a better result if you clutter clear before doing space clearing, if you find yourself unable to get going with clutter clearing or unable to complete it, then skip it and do the space clearing, just as your home is, no matter how untidy or cluttered. The ceremony works best if it’s done with a specific focus in mind, so make clutter clearing the focus of this one because until you clear your clutter, you really can’t move forward in life anyway.
The fact is that space clearing is the most effective way I know of loosening the stuck energy that accumulates around clutter, so doing it will enable you to re-engage clutter clearing afterwards with renewed enthusiasm and gusto.
You’ll probably find, as most people do, that after ousting your junk and reclaiming your space you will want to do the space clearing ceremony again, this time with the focus on you rather than your junk. So this is yet another example of how clutter makes everything harder work. You’ll be space clearing twice instead of once. But hey, at least your life will be moving forward again, and that’s what counts.
